Tester Agreement
This applies when you take part in sessions as a tester. It sits alongside our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.
You choose your sessions
We invite you to sessions that match your profile. You decide which ones to book. There’s no minimum, and joining usertank doesn’t guarantee any number of sessions or any amount of pay.
What a session involves
- Join the video call at the time you booked, from a quiet place if you can.
- Try the builder’s product or talk through their questions, and say honestly what you think.
- You may be asked to share your screen. Close anything private first. You can always decline.
- Afterwards, write a few short takeaways.
- If you can’t make it, email hello@usertank.co as early as you can. Repeated no-shows may mean fewer invitations.
How you're paid
- Each session shows its pay and length before you book. That’s the amount you receive for a completed session.
- You’re paid after the builder confirms the session happened, or automatically 48 hours after a session that took place.
- Payouts go to your bank through Stripe. You’ll set up a Stripe account and agree to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement. Payouts currently support banks in the United States and Canada.
- Stripe may convert currency, and its fees and exchange rates apply.
You're independent
You take part as an independent contractor, not an employee of usertank or of any builder. You’re responsible for any taxes on what you earn. Stripe may ask for tax information and issue tax forms where the law requires.
Keep what you see private
Builders often show products that aren’t public yet. Don’t share, post, screenshot or describe anything from a session (the product, ideas, or what was said) unless the builder says it’s fine.
Your feedback
The builder can use your feedback and takeaways to improve their product, without paying you more than the session price. They won’t publish your name, image or personal details without your permission.
Transcripts and recording
When you book, you agree that usertank’s notetaker may join sessions held in Google Meet or Zoom to make a written transcript of the call. The builder sees the transcript next to your takeaways. It helps them remember exactly what you said.
- The notetaker shows up in the call as “usertank Notetaker” and posts a message saying the call is being transcribed.
- We keep the transcript, not the audio or video. Our provider (Recall.ai) deletes the recording once the transcript is saved, within 24 hours at most.
- Sessions in usertank’s built-in video room aren’t transcribed.
- A builder may only make their own recording if you clearly agree at the start of the call, and you can say no without losing your pay.
- Want a transcript deleted? Email hello@usertank.co.
If something goes wrong
If a builder makes you uncomfortable, leave the call and email hello@usertank.co. You’ll still be paid for the session. See the Terms of Service for the rules everyone follows.
